I’m Sean Dykink, a Filmmaker and Video Editor based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My path into video began in high school (Circa 2003), where my friends and I made hacky student films for class projects. We created everything from a re-enactment of the book Lord of the Flies to the beginnings of a Matrix remake. My first real break came right after graduating high school, while working in the shipping department of a furniture company. I discovered the warehouse also housed a studio where they photographed furniture and filmed commercials. Things clicked, and I soon became a photographer’s assistant, then moved on to filming corporate videos for the HR department which was an unexpected start that launched a 12-year career in Vancouver.
Along the way, I studied acting, which gave me valuable insight into directing performers, and worked with production companies before moving into freelancing. With GUUDi Media, I focused on nonprofit stories, while also teaching video production and editing, especially during the shift online in COVID.
Today, my work is centered on one purpose: helping people communicate their story. Whether it’s a nonprofit, a business, or a student learning the craft, I aim to meet their goals in a thoughtful, purposeful, and impactful way.
